Have you ever wondered why people smile at strangers? It doesn't make any logical sense. For all you know, the person you're smiling at could be the world's most ruthless killer. Yet we do it instinctively, as if trust and kindness are commodities to be given freely. This contradiction lies at the heart of human nature-our willingness to mask fear and suspicion behind a simple, disarming gesture. But what happens when the mask slips? When curiosity overrides logic, and true intentions are revealed? In a world where trust is an illusion and everyone hides behind their own carefully constructed facade, one question lingers: Why do we smile?

"Why are we like this?" Asked a tiny girl to her tall dad which hair was starting to turn white already. The man had a grave look. He opened the door of a cafeshop and they sat. He ordered his usual while she took a hot chocolote. "Because I have had a mishap." he said with a bitter smile. The girl felt tears about to fell on her cheeks, but she refused to cry in front of him."Now I must deal with the aftermath. I have to fullfill my duty." On that he left the little girl alone in the cafe. He would probably never love her. She reminded him too much of his mistakes. A few moments later, a nanny came to get her. She didn't cry in the end. She was the living proof that her father had been wrong once. Unknowglinly, the man swore to protect her in his own way. It meant letting her grow up as far as possible from him. The girl was determined to prove him wrong. She wasn't just a mistake. This is the story of Yuki, a child with no place in this word. Her fate was either to become a monster or a saviour of these two worlds. --------------------------------------------------------------------- NO AI TRAINING: Without in any way limiting the author's [and publisher's] exclusive rights under copyright, any use of this publication to "train" generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to generate text is expressly prohibited.
