Iris Montague's twin brother took his final breaths in a cold, dark crypt and she wasn't there to see him die. Since then, Iris has been fixated on one thing: discovering the truth about her brother Roe's death, and that of his supposed new girlfriend, Jules. Authorities in the small seaside town of Verona have labelled the case a meticulously planned suicide pact caused by obsessive young love. Meanwhile, Iris's classmates gossip about murder-suicide, and adults whisper of a hit put out by longtime feuding families.

Iris calls BS on all three. She knows her brother couldn't hurt anyone, and he'd never take his own life. The only way Iris can deal with her grief and keep her own devils under control is to hunt down the real killer. But the longer her investigation goes on, the muddier the truth becomes. Iris doesn't know what to believe or whom to trust. One thing she can't deny is the feeling that maybe she never knew her twin at all.
