'..Whispers at Midnight, I miss..'

"I trusted you, remember? Twice! Not just in Ba Sing Se but back home too! How could you!?" She spat back, tears threatening to spill from her tear ducts. There was silence. No response. "Answer me! Zuko!" A gasp could be heard as he woke up, all sweaty and tired. The same threatening nightmare he had been experiencing ever since joining the avatar's team. Katara would not dare spill a word from her lips at him. He was ignored by her, and unfortunately she had the right to do so.

If he could go back to those days in the Southern water tribe and stop himself from capturing her, he would. From the moment he saw the younger girl, if he could have just turned around and let her tribe be, he would. If he could just take back the moment his amber eyes landed onto her ocean filled ones, he'd do it for her.

A Zutara story, mostly in Zuko's life. Not completely accurate, this is written from memory. A timeline where when Katara and Sokka found Aang they successfully hid him, while Katara was taken prisoner on the original fire nation ship, where she had...developed a friendship with the harsh banished prince.

If there are any possible intimate scenes it will most likely be in 2 years in their timeline, so Katara and Zuko would be 16 and 18. P.S. I want this not to be a slow burn, but I also don't want them to just fall in love. So I'll try to figure what to do to make it work.
