It had been over 100 years since the end of the War of Tainted Glass and the noctilithic Gotarhei were hunted to extinction. Their power, once thought of as unimaginable, mysteriously failed them as they all seemed to collapse at once leaving behind mountains of corpses and the unbreakable Glassforged weapons. Since then the Highgardens have never truly attained peace.

The secret wars of the Highborn houses force him to renounce his house in order to keep his family safe. However when he makes a bad deal with another house for power he begins to question if his desire was even worth it in the end.
