A cop and correctional officer named Sawyer Justice, age twenty-four, is working at a correctional facility at the Alabama Department of Corrections in Montgomery, Alabama, working daily to make sure prisoners don't escape from prison to preserving security and order in a jail or prison by keeping an eye on inmates, monitoring their activities, conducting searches for contraband, enforcing facility rules, and responding to emergencies to protect both inmates and staff; in other words, they manage the daily lives of those who are incarcerated while adhering to facility regulations and guaranteeing their custody.

Sawyer had just started his first year as a correctional officer and he comes across this inmate named Toby Mccguire, age thirty-five, who has a hate relationship with Sawyer. Until one day, Sawyer doesn't know why Toby hates him. But he doesn't care if Toby had a strong hate relationship with him. Until when Toby began to give Sawyer clues on why Toby hates him so much. Many years ago, Sawyer remembered that Toby had a close relationship with his brother Thomas Mccguire who died due to being dark skinned, and living in a white neighborhood. Until it was all a little more than just a hate relationship. Sawyer and Toby grew up in the same neighborhood together and until tragedy strikes, which made Toby hate Sawyer after his little brother Thomas had passed away. Therefore, Sawyer must find a way to ask for forgiveness. But will Toby ever have a brother like relationship with Sawyer ever again, and will Sawyer be able to move on from such a tragic tragedy.
