This is how Malcom lost his lovely wife and he had three children with him...then (Y/N) with Dave was being taken orphan and until the apocalypse happened that Skynet kidnapped the two of them and turn them into mindless cold killing machine.

Dave's personality: Rage, mad, and sadistic.

Then Dave was got hatred toward to Malcom for the accident to the parent and he want his revenge toward to the man who ruined (Y/N) and him life.
