In a far, far away future a thousand years after a global catastrophe which wipe almost all humans...
A new civilization was form in the ruins of the old one. The technology of their predecessors looks like magic to them, but that won't stop the human urge to understand it all.
Then, one day a young man was inherited a mask, and entrusted the task of repair it. A mask that hides a secret that will affect the future of them all.
At what lengths would he go to fulfill a promise? What enemies will he face? Which allies will he make? And more importantly of all. What is the cost to pay?
I would really appreciate if you give a little of time to comment your opinion of every chapter, and it would help me a lot if any typo, continuity error, or some writing advice you can make. This is my first story and I very exited to see how it goes!
I would also really appreciate likes and shares, I don't actually know if likes affect how the story performance, if it does then I would really appreciated and if not then I always welcome free internet points, in the case of shares, I know is a little harder to do so, but that definitely helps me a lot!
[NOTE: I want to clarify that this story might be a little too charge with its weird lore and, I have to admit, might have put on too many characters, and sometimes I have problems explaining some stuff or I don't explain other stuff to well. I will keep editing stuff to try to make this its best version possible.]

I am republishing this for a friend who wanted to read a sample of my work. The plot is all over the place, but I know I'll revisit it in future. I initially wrote this in 2017 before I knew a lot of things I know now. There's a lot in here that is culturally insensitive. I have done my best to edit out what I could find at first glance, but if you see something glaringly offensive please make a comment about it so that I can correct my errors. The most egregious example that comes to mind is using the G-word for the Romani and relying on unflattering stereotypes. I plan to correct a lot of this in proceeding drafts. In the 22nd century, There are some mysteries that the world holds which would be better off left in the dark. Every day, something comes ever closer from the shadows, ready to destroy everything you hold dear and more. One such secret are the Nephilim. The Nephilim are genetically modified humans capable of shapeshifting, rapid healing, and, most importantly, rapid adaptation. Most of the Nephilim are, however, extremely dangerous, losing their humanity in the process, and become monsters that must be contained. One day, A Nephilim breaks free and escapes the facility it was housed in, leaving death and destruction in its wake. After breaking free, the Nephilim meets a young woman who is not of this world, a woman who attempts to befriend him. Will the Nephilim go on to become a monster, a beast who will usher in the end of humankind, or will it learn to love once again, and become something... "Close to Human" UPDATE! So after re-reading my story, I've noticed a few things I could do better, and thus, I unpublished it. I'm going to try and rewrite the story, and maybe add a few changes such as characters, events, and some other things that may need fixing. Trust is a word that can easily be broken through breath, but survival is a word that can only be broken by death. Nikolas Clover's goal was to keep his family safe as they joined the Advors, a group of humans against the Resinix alien race. However escaping from the Proditors, a group of humans who standby the Resinix, would be anything but easy. They lived in a small town in Colombia called Salento located North just off the edge of the Amazon Rainforest. The Advors remained hidden under the tall rainforest trees while the Resinix and Proditors ruled the rest of the Earth with an iron fist. The Clovers lived in hiding as they waited for their moment to leave the Proditor infested town. However, suspicion would soon arise. Escaping would feel like hell, but the thought of surviving would feel inconceivable. ~I've dedicated a song from YouTube that fits well with each chapter to enhance the reader experience if you choose to play it! This is a novel about a topic we technically made up randomly and if there are any mistakes, errors, or just places I could fix and add more details please tell me, I want to make this book enjoyable and exciting to read! We want you to expect the unexpected in this book, for example: Most books don't kill off the main character, we want you to think we will kill off one of them.
