I stood by the cracked window, the cold creeping through the thin walls of the room. The moonlight barely lit the room, and the air felt heavy. My worn clothes did little to protect me from the chill, and the silence in the room pressed against me like a constant reminder of how small and forgotten I was.

Ailayah's voice cut through the stillness.

"You ever wonder, Desecree, what it would be like to not carry the weight of this world? To not be the one they whisper about?"

I sighed, my gaze lingering on the dark horizon. "Every day. But... what choice do I have? This is the life I've been given."

The silence grew thicker, the kind that feels like it might swallow you whole.

"You can't escape what you're meant to become," Ailayah continued, her voice soft but steady. "You're meant for something greater, even if you can't see it yet."

I turned slowly, meeting her eyes. "I never asked for this. But maybe it's time I stop running... and face it."

She stepped closer, her presence grounding me in a way I couldn't explain. "You don't have to do it alone."

I looked down for a moment, gathering my thoughts. "Then we face it together. But... nothing will ever be the same again."
