The Boy Who Discovered Fish

In the centuries before now, technology was king. People no longer remembered where the technology came from or that they created it. They didn't need to. It took care of itself. The AI was mother to all, taking care of all the work. The whole world was at peace with want for nothing.
Then, one day, the technology just stopped. everything that was automated, the AI, it all just stopped. It was a massive solar flare that lit the sky up for days. No corner of the earth was able to escape the electromagnetic interference. Everything went down.
At first, everyone waited. They had ample supplies for many months, years even, but they did have to work to get them and distribute them for the first time in their lives and any history anyone could remember. This was a new world. But everyone worked together while they waited for the machines to fix themselves as they always had when something would break. Except this time, that would never happen.
