In a world where Hunters battle deadly monsters emerging from otherworldly dungeons, Shin is mocked as "The Weakest Hunter Alive." As an E-rank Hunter, his strength is a joke, and his only motivation is to scrape by and care for his ailing mother. But when a routine dungeon raid turns into an S-rank deathtrap, Shin is offered a choice by a mysterious system: Ascend or perish.

Accepting the deal, Shin awakens as the successor to the Shadow Monarch, gaining unparalleled powers to command an army of shadows.
