She saw through his walls. He feared she'd see too much.

"Why did you come all this way just to see him?" He asks me with a low voice, hinting at his frustration.

"I didn't," I reply in a hurry. "I came to see you," my words come out rushed, not having the time to review them before I speak.

His frown weakens as his features soften in surprise. "I..." he hesitates, his eyes darting across the room and finally landing on mine. "You shouldn't have. I'm not worth coming all this way."

"And what if I don't care?" I say without thinking.
