HILENA IS A NOBODY. The whelp of Winterfell's master of horse, her life will not be written in books nor revered in songs. As a spirited young girl, she dreamed of a better realm for the smallfolk. Nearly a woman grown, Hilena knows her ideas were only the delusions of an asinine girl. Her life had proven as much in all its disappointments. When the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms comes North, Hilena thinks it will be just another day in her menial life.
Then, her family departs for the South, her closest friend goes to the Wall, and a string of odd tragedies occur in the castle. Utterly alone in Winterfell, new duties are thrust upon Hilena among revelations of war and morality. Worst of all, an old friend turned enemy is at every turn and in every thought. War is looming and the ghosts of Hilena's past with it. With all a common girl can hold dear at stake, will Hilena play the game of thrones?
