Jayden held out a small, elegantly wrapped box with a grin that could only mean trouble. "Here," he said, shoving it into Vaughn's hands.
Vaughn raised a brow, his cold, distant demeanor cracking just slightly. "What is this?"
"A star," Jayden announced proudly, as if he'd plucked it from the sky himself.
Vaughn gave him a flat look. "You're telling me you bought me a star?"
Jayden rolled his eyes. "Technically, I didn't buy the star; I just bought the naming rights. But come on, Vaughn, now when you die-which might be sooner than you think, considering your life choices-I can literally tell our kids that that star is their dad."
For a second, Vaughn just stared at him, caught between disbelief and amusement. Then, against all odds, a tiny smirk tugged at his lips. "You're insane."
Jayden beamed, unbothered by the insult. "But you love it."
Vaughn glanced at the certificate inside the box, his smirk softening into something more genuine. "Maybe I do."
