"I told you I was sorry Skylar, but it wasn't even my fault in the first place," he says angry, by the end of it.


"No one can make choices for you Max! I am not dumb!" I say almost amazed that he would even think that I would accept that.

"You'd be surprised Skylar. The world isn't as innocent as you think," he takes a deep breath as he focuses back on the road.

"Max! I am in high school! I am not sheltered at all by anyone! You of all people should know that I know how cruel the world is!" I yell at him now upset that he again is thinking that I am empty-headed.

"Some things are hidden under the surface, Skylar!"

This is the story as they try to keep their biggest darkest secret of what they are capable of and as they discover they're not the only ones like them... I am not very good at trigger warnings before individual chapters but there is mention of blood, cold abuse and parents divorcing. (But read at your own risk in case I mention something else. Have you ever met someone who alters the course of your life? For good or for bad, they've come in, given and taken, and then- BOOM! Your life was never the same.
