Niklaus Mikaelson, then a mortal boy in his late teens, was one of Cassandra's closest friends. Though their village was harsh and unforgiving, Klaus and Cassandra often escaped the burdens of their lives together, finding solace in quiet moments by the river or in the dense forest that surrounded their home. Klaus was drawn to Cassandra's strength and quiet confidence, and she, in turn, was captivated by his vulnerability and the fierce spirit hidden beneath his troubled exterior.

They fell in love however that soon was overturned by Esther, her desire of making her kids safe made her more driven to perfect the spell, so with Tatia Petrova and Cassandra Forbes Esther made the spell making Cassandra the first vampire. Esther made Casandra run making klaus and the rest of the family belive she's dead, skip to 2010 klaus Mikealson saw Caroline Forbes a dead ringer of Cassandra Forbes.
