Judit had been in another fight with her husband which had, again, resulted in her leaving to spend the night at some hotel. However, her coworker and assigned partner, Jean Vicquemare shows up to check up on her.
Events following that night are confusing and troubling for them both.
Judit can't figure out how Jean really feels about her, if anything at all, whilst also fighting with herself about what's right and wrong.
Jean can't figure out what's so wrong with him that he can care so deeply for this woman but be completely unable to express any of his care normally.
