In the island of Sylvoria, culture runs deep-and so does the pressure to uphold it. Nalani, the king's daughter, has always trusted in the earth and the sacred practices that have kept her people strong. Her faith in the universe's power to protect and guide has never wavered. But when her father opens the borders to outsiders, a foreign doctor-Cyrus, a man of unwavering faith in Jesus Christ-threatens everything she holds sacred. While the island worships nature's forces, Cyrus refuses to bow to anything but his faith in God.

Cyrus arrived in Sylvoria with a mission to heal and lead, but he didn't expect to be caught between his faith and the island's deep-rooted traditions. For Nalani, Cyrus represents everything that challenges her identity, beliefs, and the world she knows. As the tension between them grows, so does an undeniable attraction. They are opposites-one devoted to the earth, the other to God-but the sparks between them are undeniable.

With Sylvoria's future at stake, both must make impossible choices. Will Nalani fight for her people's traditions, or risk everything for a new path? And can Cyrus stay true to his faith without losing the woman he loves?

"I hear the familiar sound of footsteps approaching, and I don't need to look up to know it's my supervisor. He stops in the doorway, watching me shove the last file into the box on my desk. "Almost done with these boxes, huh?" His voice pitches up with an awkward cough to clear his guilty conscience. I look up to him with a blank gaze. It's all he deserves right now. He knows he messed up making me leave this late into the game. It's written all over his body language as he leans against the doorway, fiddling his gnarly fingers. He lets out a sigh, shifting his weight. " Listen, Kendrick... this isn't how I wanted things to play out." "Oh? Somehow I find that hard to believe." "Look, I didn't make the decision. It came down from higher ups. The cuts are everywhere, Kendrick. We had to trim the fat, and you got caught in the middle." He pauses, rubbing his forehead. "But there's a chance for you. They're transferring you to Philadelphia. They've got a case that's still open, one that needs someone who can handle the pressure. It's high-priority, Kendrick. It's a fresh start." "Philadelphia?" I scoff, pushing the last file into the box. 'I've heard about the department over there. Pretty messed up team.' "Yeah, I know the history. It's a mess. But this... this is different." He meets my eyes, his voice firm. "This case, Kendrick... it's high-profile. they've got a lot of suspicion on the guy already and they need someone who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty." I narrow my eyes. 'Who's the case about?' He hesitates for a moment, his gaze flickering before he speaks again so silent it may as well be a whisper... "Zephaniah Davis."

#1 in Young Adult #9 in Badboy #1 in Cold #3 in Goodgirl #1 in Sweetheart #14 in Love *Currently available at Amazon!!!* He'd never met someone with such a bubbly personality. Not to mention the wildness and odd phrases she'd say every five minutes. He hates it. He hates how he can't stay away from it. He hates what she does to him; it's not like him to chase after some girl. She gets under his skin like no other. She'd never met someone with such a bad attitude. He's ill-mannered and menacing. The glare never seems to leave his face. Considering it all, she can't help but feel the attraction toward him. Dangerous attraction toward a seemingly dangerous man. Maybe it's the tattoos on his arm that gets her attention. Or maybe it's because she can tell there's hope for good under his rough exterior. And she's about to find that, whether he likes it or not. It's no secret that the two of them are complete and total opposites. ~~~ "You like being called Sugar, don't you?" I tease, placing my toothbrush back after finishing. He does the same and gives me a side-eyed scowl. He grips my chin harshly and kisses me. My body temperature raises a good ten degrees and my right leg goes all wiggly. He pulls away. "You like it when I kiss you, don't you?" He teases the same way I did to him and I'm left blubbering. "I think both of our questions are rhetorical," I lower my voice up at him. His lip curls up into a smirk. ~~~ *Warning* This story contains mature themes (language, scenes, etc.)
