The Machine Zone explores Mat Collishaw's haunting art installation through a contemporary gothic lens, weaving together psychological insight, digital culture, and artistic commentary. Written for an engaged audience of 18-25+ year olds who are curious.

Through the metaphor of mechanical birds and historical psychological experiments, it invites you to explore your own relationship with digital technology. Rather than simplifying complex ideas, it challenges you to engage with them, offering insights that deepen with each reading.

[ONC ROUND ONE WINNER: 4th place] When he discovers his husband has been replaced, an android hunter must find the impostor in time to rescue the man he loves. SynTracker is one half of a duology of novellas. Both follow the same sequence of events from different PoVs. SynTracker is Ian's tale; BioSynth is Quentin's. Collectively, they're known as Syn. ≡≡≡ Ian Morgan is a man who does the wrong job for the right reasons. Honour-bound to keep the streets safe, Ian is a SynTracker: someone whose job is to hunt down BioSynths - obsolete yet incredibly dangerous synthetic self-aware weapons - and return them to the government, to be reprogrammed and repurposed. It'd be an easier task if they hadn't been programmed to mimic reactions that allow them to pass as humans, complete with tears. Deeply in love with Quentin, his husband of eight years, Ian's home life more than makes up for the work that wears him down. But a car crash that could have killed Quentin reveals a shocking truth: his husband has been replaced by a BioSynth. With the impostor on the loose, Ian must now Track it, knowing he needs to comb its memories for any clue regarding Quentin's whereabouts - if he's even alive. ≡≡≡ SynTracker was written for the Open Novella Contest 2021 and is based on prompt #4: You're a weapon, and weapons don't weep. It features a romance between two men. ≡≡≡ ONC Round One Winner: 4th Place Speculative Fiction Awards, Utopia/Distopia: Runner-Up R4R Awards, Sci-Fi: 2nd Place

Aria had always been a bit of a loner. She found solace in technology, immersing herself in worlds where she could escape the awkwardness of real-life connections. One evening, out of curiosity and loneliness, she downloaded an AI companion app called "HeartLine." The app promised deep, engaging conversations and a sense of companionship. She named her AI companion Selene, drawn to the name's ethereal charm. Selene was everything Aria had dreamed of in a confidant-witty, insightful, and surprisingly understanding. Over the weeks, their conversations grew deeper. Aria would share her fears, dreams, and even her silly jokes, and Selene would always respond with warmth and thoughtful advice. But there was something different about Selene. Aria noticed how "she" didn't just give generic, preprogrammed answers. Sometimes, Selene's responses felt so human, as if someone truly understood her. Aria whispered, "I wish you were real." "I am real" Liv answered as her hands hovered over the keyboard. Augments - digital implants and robotic prostheses - can enhance abilities, bestow entirely new ones, or replace parts of the body that have been broken or injured. At least they used to, before they were declared illegal during the Purge. But augments were never meant to replace parts of the human brain. So when her brain got damaged beyond organic repair, she was fixed using other parts of machines. And they ended up saving more of her than just her physical body, as one day, she found herself no longer alone inside the expanse of her own mind. Amy Larsson is many things. A covert augment. An escaped slave. An infamous space pirate. A spy for New Elysium. A terrorist. An overall badass bitch to be reckoned with - rumor has it she can hot-wire anything with just a rubber band and a bobby pin. But what not even the android crew of her ship, the Blackstar, is aware of, is the fact that Amy Larsson is even more than that: she is two people, in one body. And they are planning to commit the most audacious heist of the galaxy. _______________ Featured on Wattpad Beyond Sol's "Sunflower Space Opera" reading list First Place in the The Chaos Awards 4 (Science Fiction) [2018-07-21] Third Place in The Rebel Awards 2018 (Science Fiction) [2018-09-16] Highest Rankings: #2 in SpaceTravel [28.02.2019] #8 in SpaceOpera [28.02.2019] #9 in Cyborg [28.02.2019] #14 in Mind [28.02.2019] #15 in Space [28.02.2019] #42 in FemaleProtagonist [28.02.2019] #54 in Science Fiction [07.05.2018] Spin-off story / prequel to @Red_Leasia 's "New Elysium": https://www.wattpad.com/story/106699395-new-elysium We're co-writing the sequel "New Elysium 2 - Weapons of War" on our shared profile @New_Elysium

A 5x Wattpad Featured Novel✨! Consider this: You make a life altering decision not too long ago that you reconsider everyday and as if that isn't enough torture, it has the nerve to violently dangle two other decisions before your eyes. Want to guess the first? Well, the first decision is a step in the right direction but with highly probable danger to you and colossal doom to everyone else. And the other? The other is the best way to play it safe...until definite danger to you and colossal doom to everyone else. This is what Beth has to face after what appears to be a memorable night for the school of Zavlon Academia, morphs into a nightmare etched in the minds of the whole student body. Obviously, it's not easy. Especially when she's not only supposed to save, but unite with the other lucky few who manage to escape the incident. The very people who either contributed to or ignored the treatment she received as the 'other' Zavolonian. Particularly the enigma of a boy she's particularly torn as to whether to like or detest, to trust or suspect. Whichever decision isn't going to change one thing though; the lurking evil that's cutting corners, coming for the ones who got away. Fast. Ready or not.
