The soft click of heels was the only thing heard in the House of Wind. The silence was much needed for Soraya after a night of partying with her family. The Fate had kissed her mate on the cheek, and told him she was leaving for the night. He had asked her if she wanted him to join her, clutching her hand securely, but Soraya shook her head softly. The High Lord had watched her leave, with a faltering smile on his face.

Soraya opened the heavy double doors to her's and Rhysand's private balcony. The air was warm as she watched people dance across the cobbled streets of Velaris. Fireworks went off every few seconds, the people celebrating the waited return of their High Lady. Yet, Soraya couldn't find the joy in her soul. She took off her heels, and laid her head to rest on the decorated railing. Looking above the colorful explosions, Soraya's eyes found three stars. Two shining brightly, one dimmed to the point she almost had to squint to see.

"What do I do now, sisters?" Soraya asked breathlessly, eyes closing in frustration. And for the first time in years, the Fate let a single tear fall down her cheek.
