Sienna Giovanni, a 12-year-old Italian-South Korean girl, has spent most of her life in isolation. Her only company has been her neglectful "mother," a deflated volleyball, and a worn-out teddy bear. She doesn't know much about the world outside her small, lonely existence.
But life wasn't always this way. Sienna once had loving parents and caring older siblings, a family full of warmth and laughter-until tragedy tore them apart.
Everything changes when her "mother" is arrested, and Sienna is returned to the parents who never stopped searching for her. They remember their sweet, mischievous little girl with the sparkling chocolate-brown eyes and adorable grin who could make anyone smile.
But Sienna isn't the same anymore. The bright, innocent child they knew is now a guarded, quiet pre-teen, weighed down by the scars of her past. Determined to help her heal, her family tries to rebuild their connection and bring Sienna out of her shell.
