When his gaze brushed past her, she felt it like a blade grazing her skin - fleeting, but sharp enough to leave a mark. There he was. The recruiter. The man who held the keys to everything she'd been chasing and everything she feared. His eyes swept across the area, sharp and calculating, as if he already knew every secret it held. Every movement he made was deliberate and precise, like a predator sizing up its prey. The quiet clink of his shoes against the floor seemed deafening in the charged silence. She couldn't afford to slip, couldn't afford to betray even a flicker of recognition. The game had begun long before he arrived, and now, she was walking the knife's edge. As his gaze fell on 011's, she swallowed the knot tightening in her throat. There was no turning back now.

                                                                                one dead brother

                                                                              two missing guards

"Miss, would you like to play a game?" The man asked, his smile still splayed on his face as he awaited the woman's response. Taking the wrong idea immediately, Min-Rhee shuffled back a little bit, her eyes wide. "O-Oh! Oh, no.. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression, sir, but I actually have a boyfrie-" She shut herself the fuck up, the moment he opened a briefcase revealing stacks of neatly arranged cash. Taking the wrong idea yet again, Min-Rhee scoffed in offence. "Sir, I don't know who you take me for but I am not a prostitute, mkay?" Gaining no response from the man, Min-Rhee continued speaking. "I won't sell my body to you. If you're really that desperate, there's a club around the corner. It's hard to miss.. I'm sure being the good looking man you are, you won't find any trouble with picking up gir-" "Miss Kim Min-Rhee, age twenty three. You attended Seoul National University, aiming for a degree in finance while working part time to balance your occupation and your studies. Your boyfriend convinced you to drop out, and join him in the music industry. It backfired. You both turned to drugs and other illegal substances, mounting up your debt. Your mother sent you to rehab for ninety days, using all her savings for your recovery. She was later diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, the bills for chemotherapy being almost triple than what you earn annually." "..." "eh?"

Counts Total words: 120,757 Average words per chapter: 1,589 Amount of chapters: 76 ~~~ Y/N is a girl from America who recently moved to South Korea. She's just getting settled in when she meets an interesting salesman. He tells her that she can play games for money. Making a little money won't hurt... or will it? She'll find out when she decides to join the games. She may also find more than wealth and death in the walls. Maybe she'll find love. This story is a slowburn that includes some enemies to lovers themes/undertones. The reader is female! ~~~ NOTES/ANNOUNCEMENTS/WARNINGS: When Y/N is in the games, I basically follow everything in Squid Game Season One, but I changed a few quotes and events to better suit this book and the inclusion of Y/N. The only trait I have assigned to Y/N is her player number: 055. You can imagine something else though! It won't be very important later on. Some possible triggers including: recurring PTSD, grief, mental breakdowns, drinking, hangovers, very brief sexual assault, detailed sexual assault, etc. More time-specific warnings will be present with the start of each chapter. No warnings = nothing I think will be particularly bad. There's strong language and constant mentions of death as almost this entire story is hosted in a facility that runs death games.
