To say Jade was a standout amidst the other Slytherins was an understatement. She was bright eyed, full of hope and had a smile which could melt titanium. But there was a reason she had been sorted into Slytherin, and it wasn't because of how beautifully she wore the emerald green robes. She had always been competitive, though she preferred to label it as ambitious.

When she received an owl from Albus Dumbledore she got a familiar glint in her eye and an itch in her chest, yearning over the success promised by such an opportunity.

To work alongside Dumbledore would be an achievement in its own right.

Before she could think straight, her bags were packed and she was off to Hogwarts with her widest sunshiny grin yet.

What awaits her couldn't have been expected:

an obstacle.

An insufferable potion master with an insufferable closeness to Dumbledore and furthermore, insufferably distracting good looks.

With a plastered on smile, a drive that could strangle any badger, raven or lion alike, and a disdain for a certain snake-like professor, she was set to "kill them with kindness". But it seemed Snape was just as prepared, armed and ready for the duel.

Personally I've been sorted into Gryffindor 6/7 times and only Slytherin once. However, I cannot read another Severus x Hufflepuff book. I hope you enjoy my take!

All of the events which took place canonically prior to Order of the Phoenix are still in play, I'd like to think you could watch Sorcerer's Stone to GOF and It'd be an alternate universe where you just popped in. I've basically rewritten almost every event from the start of order of the Phoenix. I had to! I want this character to make sense in this world and I'm a firm believer that one person can change everything, so here we go.
