What is Vaikuntha Ekadasi and Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam at Tirupati

Vaikuntha Ekadasi is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar, especially for devotees of Lord Vishnu. It is observed on the 11th day of the waxing moon during the month of Margashirsha (December-January). The day holds immense significance as it is believed that on this day, Lord Vishnu opens the gates of Vaikuntha, his celestial abode, to bless his devotees. In Tirupati, this day is celebrated with grandeur, drawing thousands of pilgrims.

The Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam refers to the special darshan (viewing of the deity) where the pilgrims are allowed to pass through the Vaikunta Dwara (the gates of heaven) in the temple. This darshan is considered to be a highly spiritual experience and is available only on Vaikuntha Ekadasi and the following day, Vaikuntha Dwadashi. On this day, the temple's entrance is specially decorated, and the deity is adorned in a grand manner. Devotees get an opportunity to witness the deity from a different perspective, symbolizing entry to Vaikuntha.
