Amelia Nelson, an intelligent 12-year-old who skipped two grades and is now a high school freshman, has always strived for academic achievement. The summer before the school year, she made a promise that she would stay focused on her studies. She might break that promise when she meets 16-year-old sophomore Easton Foster, a popular football player with an excellent sense of humor. As she continues interacting with Easton, she is forced into a dilemma where she must choose between focussing on her studies, or to pursue her platonic crush on Easton.
