Six months it has been since The Veilguard got rid of all the Blight, the Evanuris, self proclaimed Gods, blighted Elven Mages.

Dragon Age the Veilguard Fanfic, Lucanis Dellamorte x Original Female Character (nicknamed Rook ;)) Marchioness Caterina Dellamorte has decided that her grandsons need to wed. Her grandsons have other ideas. So does Rook, who is considered a hopeless spinster at the age of 26, but her parents have decided to give her one more chance to find a match. Finding a common cause, Rook and Lucanis hatch a plan to get both of them through the season without having to deal with debutantes and suitors. This fic has absolutely nothing to do with the plot of the game. It is set very roughly at around 7:80 Storm, and I am taking *Liberties* with the history and people of Thedas and pretty much everything else (except, hopefully, the core of the characters) to suit my story. By My Hands
Rook and Solas battle it out and wind up locked in the Fade together. Will they kill each other or will they heal Thedas and themselves? So, I didn't really like the ending of Veilguard and thus decided to write my own. This series begins at the "bad ending" where Rook and Solas end up in the Fade together (though Rook survives this). I incorporated some of the other aspects of the "better endings" where most of the Veilguard survives, barring Davrin/Assan and Bellara. I stove to give Rook what she was desperately lacking in game, which was a solid origin story. Yes, I am aware that it's a difficult backstory and it is intended to be that way for many reasons that will reveal themselves as the series goes forward. There are definitely some adult themes here. Those who already follow my work know that I don't shy away from the dark. This is a story about lies, anger, love, obsession, redemption and insane chemistry--not all in that order. I also felt my poor Inquisitor deserved some agency and through this story, I was able to give it to her. If you are easily triggered or don't like Solas with anyone else besides the Inquisitor, this might not be the series for you. I'm just giving a fair warning here. Please note chapter one begins with good deal of in-game dialogue.

In the face of your light is a lovely story and if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it! Beautiful writing, and fantastic character development. I swallowed their fic whole.
