Historical
The sun hung low over the vast expanse of the Great Plains, casting an amber glow on the rolling hills and whispering grasses. Captain William "Will" Harper stood atop a ridge overlooking the Little Bighorn River, his gaze fixed on the horizon where dark clouds gathered ominously. Behind him, the distant sounds of the 7th Cavalry preparing for battle echoed through the valley. He clutched a worn piece of parchment in his hand-a map detailing General Custer's plans for a surprise attack on the Lakota and Cheyenne encampments. The weight of his decision bore heavily upon him. Betrayal was a word that tasted bitter, but conscience demanded action. The faces of the people who had taken him in, taught him a new way of seeing the world, flashed before his eyes. He took a deep breath, mounted his horse, and rode toward the encampment that had become his sanctuary, determined to avert the impending tragedy.
