"Isabella. Please." His grip tightened on my wrist so I could not break free, and leave him to charge into what he claimed was certain death. I stared at his wonderous face, that was such a strange perfection I could not even fathom to encompass it in words. "I can't let you do this."

"Why not?" I retorted calmly, though my tone was starting to become shaky.

"Because I need you to stay alive!" He shouted as his eyes cut into me like cold steel, but I knew his compulsion would do him no good with me.

My breath hitched in my throat as I attempted to form a reply to his answer, I wanted to believe him, I did, but what good would that do? I wanted him to trust me so badly so if I gave in, I could never be proved worthy of being trusted. "...I'm nothing more than a disposable human to you, right?" This seemed to hit him, as his expression became softer and he moved his free arm up to my face; brushing some hair off my cheek and behind my ear.

"No. Your more. I can't explain it, but there is a pull, a powerful one," His tone was earnest, vying for her belief without end. "I can't let you die because...
