It had been a few months since she started living with her relatives in New York, far away from India.
Anjali Nagarajan was slowly healing in the busy, smoky air of the big city. She had made a friend, (who kept making people uneasy) who seemed to live at the local arts and crafts store, she got a job as a nurse in a hospital in the big city thanks to her Aunt, and was friends with her maid. Life slowly rolled over that little night. One cool evening, she was walking back home from the hospital, when she made a life-altering decision after she saw her cousin getting beaten up in an alley.
