83 parts Complete Yuri!!! on Ice (ユーリ!!! on ICE lit. Yuri!!! on ice?) is an anime series based on and set in figure skating. It was produced by the MAPPA animation studio, directed by Sayo Yamamoto, and written by Mitsurō Kubo. Character design was by Tadashi Hiramatsu, and music was composed by Tarō Umebayashi and Taku Matsushiba. The choreography was coordinated by former figure skater Kenji Miyamoto, who also performed routines that were recorded and used as sound effects in the skating scenes. The debut episode premiered on October 6, 2016, while the last one aired on December 22 of the same year; the series had a total of twelve episodes.3 At an event with the voice actors of the series in April 2017, the making of a film with an original story was announced.4 The film will be released in 2019 with the title Yuri !!! on Ice Gekijō-ban: Ice Adolescence.5 Its plot focuses on the relationships between Japanese figure skater Yuri Katsuki, his idol, Russian figure skating champion Victor Nikiforov, and promising Russian figure skater Yuri Plisetsky, as they participate in the Grand Prix, with Victor as trainer of Yuri K.
