"Interesting?" He repeats, his voice barely above a whisper, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "What do you have in mind?"

You pause for a beat, letting the moment stretch, letting the tension hang in the air. Then, with a calculated grin, you lean in slightly, just enough so that your breath brushes against his ear.

"Kiss me," you say, the words coming out clear and deliberate. "Right now."

His eyes flicker to yours, the smallest hint of something in them. Amusement? Annoyance? You can't quite tell. But then, without warning, he steps back, his posture shifting into one of detached amusement, though you can see the corner of his lips twitch into a barely-there smirk.

"Bold," he mutters, the sarcasm dripping from his voice. "But that's not quite how I play this game, is it? If you want to play pretend, we'll do it my way."

And I kept thinking that way....until I met him. P.N.
