Soulmates are bonded to each other when they are born. When a person reaches the age of 20, the bond is shown in form of a tattoo. For each soulmate bond there is a different tattoo. When two or more soulmates meet each other, they will feel a certain pull. That pull is called Soulmate Longing. It got the name as the souls complete each other, and without the other half, your soul will feel incomplete.
The bond is there, but it won't be activated until the soulmates touch. When soulmates touch, their soul will finally feel complete, and the other person will feel like the only purpose of their lives. After the soulmates bond, they must spend some time together so the bond can strengthen itself. If they refuse to do that, their body and soul will weaken a lot, and they could even die. This state is called Soul Rip. There aren't many cases of Soul Rip, as most of the soulmates bond fast. But there are still a few. If the soulmates are too far from each other, the Soul Rip can also take place.

Soulmates, we're always told we have one but I haven't been so sure I do. I mean I did get my tattoo and it hasn't disappeared yet, meaning they aren't dead. I guess believing in something like that takes a lot of effort. When you first touch your soulmate (Skin to skin contact) your tattoo turns a solid color. That color is the most important color in your life at the moment you touched. In this world, there's a system to tell who your soulmate is. Nobody remembers how it happened but, one day people started getting these tattoos on their right wrist. These tattoos are a basic shape that resembles your soulmate's hair. The shape is filled in completely by the color of your soulmate's hair as well. In the center of the tattoo, there are 1-5 objects. Those objects describe what your soulmate loves to do. The shape of my tattoo always fascinated me but I've never been able to put it into words. My tattoo shape is an upside-down half-circle if instead of the bottom part being flat, it opens and curves outwards. In the center of my tattoo was a volleyball, it always was a volleyball, it's never changed once. You see naturally, people tend to change hobbies, but whoever my soulmate was, they didn't change theirs, I never changed mine either which is fascinating. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm.
