Beatrice Calderone is familiar with working hard, and stressing too much. She has experienced hardship and poverty, family issues, and mental illness, all while in high school. A short story set in Chicago, Presumptively Beatrice explores loss, love, and the complications of living with an anxiety disorder as a teenager. Life is a difficult burden for her to bear at times. When she finally turns eighteen, Beatrice meets someone who may just change her perspective on life.
(This story is the counterpart to my original short story Beyond Rivers.)
