After a plane accident which resulted in both of her parents' death, Akari was sent to live with her uncle Gakuho Asano. While she did get along with her cousin, her uncle didn't exactly like her and sent her to live on her own at the age of 13, he also made her stay in E class as he did not want any association with her.

Things were quite lonely for the poor girl, and it didn't help that she didn't have many friends. She mostly sat quietly in the back of the class and played on her switch.
