Lloyd, the Green Ninja, has never been sick. But when an ancient, dark crystal manipulates his emotions and plunges him into a fevered, corrupted state, it threatens to tear apart the very core of his being. As his friends, including his devoted sister Jade-an Elemental Master of Emotion-fight to save him, they uncover a sinister force behind the crystal's power. With Kai, Zane, Nya, and Cole by their side, the team battles to break the crystal's hold on Lloyd. But when they shatter the crystal to free him, they unwittingly unleash Umbra, an ancient being of darkness who seeks to bring despair and chaos to the world. Now, united as never before, the team must face their greatest challenge yet: stopping Umbra from consuming everything they hold dear. In the end, it will be their bonds, their determination, and their shared strength that will decide whether hope can overcome the encroaching shadows.

The ninja finally defeats Lord Garmadon and Lloyd gets his dad back. Everyone is happy again, but the darkness that was in Garmadon finds its way to Lloyd which causes him to slowly become meaner and more emo. The darkness takes full control of Lloyd and makes him just as evil as his dad, but more powerful since he is still the Green Ninja. The rest of the team is left to figure out who and or what is powerful enough to destroy the evilness in him without harming their friend. Meet Miku Garmadon, the daughter of Lord Garmadon and younger twin sister to Lloyd. Since her birth, Miku inherited her father's dark elemental powers, resulting the people around her to quickly judge her without getting to know her. The only person who cares about her is her twin brother. The twins spent some time together before Lloyd was sent away to Darkley's School for Bad Boys, leaving Miku in the care of her uncle Wu. She feels empty without her twin brother by her side, but was later introduced to the ninjas, they all welcomed her with opened arms except for the master fire Kai.
