Romance
Rowan Black is a junior in college and the captain of the Crimson women's hockey team, and everyone either wants to be her or be with her. Tall, beautiful, smart, kind, loyal, protective-and the best damn player in college hockey. But after a tragic accident five months ago, she's been unable to step foot on the ice. She's tough on the outside, but beneath it, she's hiding a past full of loss, self-doubt, and a desire to prove she can come back stronger than ever. Emery Bennett is a junior who won the Northeast Collegiate Figure Skating Championship in her first and second years of college. This year, the pressure is even higher: her parents expect Olympic glory in 2026, and her fans are counting on her. The hardest pressure? It's coming from herself. Her obsession with perfection keeps her in a constant state of stress, chasing something she fears she'll never achieve. The rink is her sanctuary, but it's also where she's slowly losing herself. When these two athletes collide, their worlds will collide too. Both need to face their greatest fears-and the hardest question of all: can they help each other heal, or will their problems on the ice tear them apart?

"Why is it that whenever I try to get closer to you, you always shy away from me?" Aiden asks, hurt dripping from his voice I look at him and instantly i'm filled with regret and fear. "You wouldn't understand Aiden." I say pleading with him "Try me," He challenges. "Listen," I pause. "I need you to understand that when I push you away, it's because it's the only thing I know how to do anymore." He opened his mouth to say something but she stopped him, holding her palm up like a white flag. "You need to understand that everyone else has left and my problem," I say raising my voice. "My problem is that I'm scared," "I'm scared of getting too attached to someone, until eventually, that someone has the power to control me. To end my world when they feel like it." Aidens eyes bore into mine but he doesn't say anything. "Are you attached?" He asks. I glance away and then back at him nodding "With you? Too much." I say as a tear rolls down my left cheek "I'm scared that you are going to leave." I whisper as Aiden wraps his arms around me. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••• A grumpy figure skater and a golden retriever Hockey Captain.
