In the magical realm of Lumivale, Starlore Academy begins a new year, welcoming gifted students like Cinthia and Robert. Among them is Raizel, a quiet boy marked as powerless after the Nexus Orb registers no magic within him, much to everyone's surprise. Meanwhile, at Eryndor Citadel, King Leonard receives urgent news from Queen Martha of Astraelion and King Xcaliber of Zypharion-they've seen HIM, the mysterious figure from the Oblivion Crisis. Leonard, astonished, dispatches Drago Thalvaren to investigate, emphasizing diplomacy. As Kronos questions Leonard, the king recounts the century-old war against Umbraethis, a malevolent force that devastated the living world. Despite their best efforts, Leonard, Martha, and Xcaliber couldn't stop him. Salvation came in the form of a cloaked hero in black, who not only vanquished Umbraethis but restored peace to the realm. Now, whispers of the hero's return spark hope and suspense, setting the stage for a new chapter in Lumivale's history.

Isla Sorrengail has spent her life surviving in the shadows, sharpening her instincts like a blade. But Basgiath War College is not the kind of battlefield she was trained for. Here, brute strength means little without a dragon willing to bond, and power is earned through blood and strategy. No one knew she existed before she arrived-not the cadets glaring at her back, not the instructors watching her every move, not even the sister who should have known. But Isla is not here to make friends. She is here to claim what was stolen from her-her name, her family, her place in the world. But Basgiath is built to break the weak. And Isla? She has no intention of breaking. Even when rivals seek revenge. Even when her own past hunts her down. Even when the wingleader with shadows in his eyes-Xaden Riorson-watches her like he's trying to unravel her secrets. She will not falter. She will not kneel. She will not lose. Because Isla Sorrengail has already lost everything once. And she refuses to do it again.
