Between Hawkins and Derry, a military laboratory stood in the middle of a forest, camouflaged by the surrounding trees and mountains. Created in 1940, this lab conducted numerous scientific experiments aimed at countering the rise of Nazism and later Soviet communism. For the past 48 years, many experts had held the reins of this place. Dr. Martin Brenner had been running it with an iron fist for 27 years, overseeing both the scientists working there and the test subjects living in the facility.
