Meanwhile, there is 18-year old Sawyer Harble, who lives her life in a camp so called a safe haven, but a prison of kids who have magical, mysterious abilities. Sawyer is among the most powerful of all the kids at the place. The leader, who is also her abusive, selfish father, sends her to a city to seek this mysterious source of magic that he has been trying to find for years. He claims he's tried to seek it himself in the same city, but has never found it. While Sawyer is trying to find it, instead, she finds Eli. Eli and Sawyer tell a lot about themselves to each other. Sawyer then finds out, there's a lot more to Eli than she thought when she discovers his psychic abilities... she is extremely tempted to do multiple risks that she's never thought she'd be able to do. He never spoke a word to his brother if it weren't mean and cruel, which was why a request to join in on his big brother's 'fun' and 'games' was a surprise to everyone, much less himself. But when things are taken way too far, Atticus is suddenly running and ends up at the doorstep of an unusual compound that sparks something in his instincts. Taking refuge away from the poison of others, Atticus knew that he couldn't hide forever, but he'd do anything to be left alone so he didn't have to hide anymore. Unfortunately he wasn't the only resident in this newly-found dwelling, because this newcomer wanted the exact same thing that he did.

For Charlotte, it meant new life. A life without her twin. Charlotte's never done anything without her sister before, but now she's going to have to. ~~ Charlotte grew up with her twin being her best friend, the one who helped her through the toughest times in her life. They had a connection that astounded people.The pain of losing someone so close, of someone who was literally like your other half, is one that no one should have to experience. But Charlotte did. Now, after her twin's death, Charlotte will not only have to live life without her twin, but learn to get close to people again. With struggles of self worth and depression, Charlotte has a hard time accepting her life as it now is. She even gains an unlikely friend but is hesitant to even let him in her life.
