She always had a difficult time coping with her father's leaving, resulting in her self-harming to cope with the pain. Her mom decided she should have a boyfriend so she would get out of the house more. Derek Wilson is an abusive, cheating and impulsive douchebag. Her mom sees the marks he leaves but will tell her she deserves it. Her life is terrible in her eyes, and she doesn't see a reason worth living, until she met her.

Ace Santana is a badass who just moved to a small town in the deserted part of Florida. Her parents have both gotten jobs there, so she will be attending a new school with new people. Her new house is right next to Avery's, giving her the opportunity to try and make friends with Avery. Ace is a player who smokes marijuana and fights anyone who tries to cross her. Her ways may change once she starts to get to know Avery, and who knows, maybe shell fall in love.
This is a romantic story on how opposites do attract.
