Malvin is the son of one of the lower houses. He doesn't have much power on his own, but after finding out there's a slave auction for rehabilitated vampires, he decides to give up his high status and try to gain power on his own.
He rescues one of the vampires in the auction, enlisting his help for his selfless endeavor. The vampire, Acheron, feels greatly debted to Malvin, and although he finds him overly optimistic, he also finds that his smile is worth trying to go against the underground forces for.
The two go on with a goal in mind. To stop these auctions and help the vampires integrate back into society.
