Shards of Aether

Shards of the Aether is set in Aetheris, a world of floating continents sustained by mystical Aether Shards, which provide elemental powers and keep the continents aloft above a deadly fog sea. Once evenly distributed, the shards maintained harmony until the Dominion of Aros began hoarding them, using their power to fuel a militaristic empire and devastating the balance of the world. As smaller continents collapse into the fog sea, Kael, a 17-year-old orphan with the rare ability to resonate with all shards, discovers that the fog sea is alive and rising, enraged by humanity's greed and misuse of its shards. With his crumbling homeland at risk, Kael embarks on a quest to restore balance before the fog consumes all of Aetheris.

Kael is joined by Lira, a rogue soldier from Aros; Tarin, a blind shardsmith; Renar, Kaels beloved, and Mara, a mysterious girl connected to the fog sea's sentient force. Together, they battle Aros's shard-enhanced soldiers, power-hungry warlords, and the monstrous avatars of the fog sea. Kael learns the truth about the fog's origins and, in a climactic act of sacrifice, becomes a living bridge between the shards and the fog sea, restoring harmony to Aetheris at the cost of his memories and identity. His story becomes legend as the continents heal, and the reborn Sentinels prepare to protect Aetheris once more.
