I wrote this poem few months back and im quite happy to share this with everyone!
i have connected several elements mainly mythology, nature, death in my lines to convey the concept of love and its ephemeral memories to the readers in multiple ways.
this is a small explanation of some lines in the poem and its hidden meanings,so feel free to check this after, maybe reading the lines < 3
Greek Legends say that once the moon goddess used to love a shepherd named Endymion..and she asked Zeus to grant her lover an eternal life so she can see him,forever..
so in the poem... another soul, was left alone, even by death itself
The moon seeing his state, tries to comfort him, telling him about her memories with her beloved (in the poem as u can see "whispers from fading twilight")
then upon hearing the moon's past,he remembers about his past love life as well, and speaks about it with the moon..
I've given a sense of freedom for readers to interpret that guy as some lonely soul, or the fallen angel (devil himself)and tried to connect the emotions or conflicted memories that a normal soul or a fallen angel would feel, in the same manner..
Tasogare is "twilight" in Japanese and in the end,i wrote
"yet she stood beyond my touch, an ikigai of what could have been." which conveys that even after him confronting fate, and being engulfed in darkeness for her,she didn't reciprocate the feelings.
"an ikigai of what could have been" as in,if she loved him back, it could've been the true purpose of his life (ikigai in Japanese meaning the purpose of life).
