After escaping the Red Room, Natasha Romanoff spends great part of her life searching for James "Bucky" Barnes, her former mentor and the man with whom she shared a complex, unspoken bond. The winter soldier was a death machine, but to Nat, James was her safe haven.
Everything changes when the Avengers capture a 15-year-old Hydra agent-a young girl who's lost everything and is now, for the second time in her life considered a defector
The girl, trapped in the dark, cold cells of Hydra, was certain she was losing her mind. For years, she'd heard agonized screams echoing through the walls, convinced they were nothing more than cruel tricks her mind was playing on her.
It's only when she finds a hidden way into the vent in her room, that she realizes the screams are real-and the tortured voice belongs to someone far more than human. Determined to uncover the truth, she makes it her life's mission to discover his name.
For once in her life, the universe is helping her out. And as her and Natasha bond they can both sense that the other person is the owner of the last piece of the puzzle they dedicated their lives to.
