Celeste Rhyne, the chief electrician aboard the USG Eryx, has a talent to keep systems running in the most hostile environments. But as the Eryx makes a cargo drop-off and survey of a struggling colony on the wild, untamed surface of Kaelus-9, Celeste faces a new challenge: surviving in a harsh and hostile environment, surrounded by brash, uneasy people. As tensions rise, she begins to notice strange happenings-men disappearing without a trace under the cover of night. With the feeling of something lurking, will her skills and resourcefulness be enough to keep her alive? Or will whatever is lurking consume her as it has with others?
