In the late 1700s, 18-year-old James serves as a lookout on an American merchant vessel returning from London with precious goods. His life takes a harrowing turn when their ship is ambushed by pirates. In the ensuing chaos, the vessel explodes, leaving James stranded on a piece of debris and adrift in the vast, unforgiving ocean.
Days pass with no rescue in sight, and just as James clings to the last shreds of hope, two ominous fins break the surface nearby. Fearing the worst, he scrambles to keep above the water. But what emerges from the depths defies belief-two towering, muscular, anthropomorphic shark men, their sharp gazes filled with curiosity.
One of them climbs onto the makeshift raft, seizing James despite his desperate struggle. Exhaustion overtakes him, and he blacks out. When he awakens, James finds himself on a sprawling, mysterious island, far from civilization. His two enigmatic captors seem to have claimed him as their own, and their intentions, though not hostile, are anything but ordinary.
Trapped in this strange and secret world where beings like his captors exist only in whispered legends, James faces a choice: fight for a chance at rescue or embrace an unexpected bond with his powerful, otherworldly companions.
Will he find a way back to the life he once knew, or will he surrender to the allure of the unknown?
