High school is a carousel of misery. Bullies circle like vultures, picking apart his insecurities. Too short. Too sensitive. Too queer. He tries to keep himself together, but it's hard when the mirror's reflection feels more like an accusation than a reassurance.

Then there's John Laurens-grinning like he doesn't feel the weight of the world, but you can see it in his eyes if you look close enough. He's a hurricane, blowing through Alexander's life with reckless charm and a heart big enough to drown in. For the first time, Alexander thinks maybe he isn't lost. Maybe he doesen't have to be alone.
