The year is 2025. Jessie Williams is a non-binary gay teen who's trapped in a world where there's no future for people like them. The United States of America, once known as 'the land of the free', has become a right-wing Christian nationalist authoritarian country, where being LGBTQ is now a federal crime, punishable by a brutal death sentence, and every hard-won progressive laws had been rolled back indefinitely, LGBTQ+ organizations have been shut down, and websites are censored in the name is 'protecting American family values'. To make things worse, Jessie's family are extremely religious and anti-LGBTQ, and they are close friends with America's new dictator. Jessie's mental health was hitting absolute rock bottom as they're trying to hold themselves back from thoughts of suicide, but everyday becomes more and more bleak, pushing them to a brink of despair even more.
