One day, her estranged father shows up and tells her the craziest story she's ever heard: She's the last in the line of the Hindu goddess Parvati and the purpose of her life is to break a thousand year-old curse. Lalitha would dismiss it as imaginative lies, as her mother does, but there is something human about the new tiger in the big cat act.
