Both Emerald and Josiah are transgender, out and proud online but forced to navigate the hyper-masculine world of college football in silence. Yet, no secret is as dangerous as the one Emerald keeps buried-the horrific sexual crimes committed against her within the very program he represents. The scars remain long after the final whistle, but when no justice comes, he and Emerald are forced to leave it all behind.

Two and a half years later, they return.

The Bears are on the cusp of history, playing for a conference championship and a shocking berth in the 14-team College Football Playoff.
