An ice age covers the world in a thick layer of snow that leads everyone to what most have believed to be the end of all days. Most of the world has perished, leaving less than a million alive to fight and fend off for themselves.
Rhyolite Dorro is one of many that's trying to find his way through the rough times that has emerged from the last 9 years. He's done his best to ration out food, give himself heat, and find sources of entertainment while confined in a small cabin in the middle of nowhere. With each attempt of one of those 3 going out to waste each day, he's starting to lose hope. That is, until an unexpected visitor appears in his home one day...

So, for those that read this, this was meant to be the collab book I announced on Christmas day of 2024, but a few things fell through. Motivation wasn't a hotspot, and I didn't want this idea to go to waste or not get finished. So, here it is!

All eight of them wore genuine smiles as they purred, rubbing themselves against me in a kind of calming manner. At first I worried they didn't hear me, until my eldest brother, the Alpha of our pack, Jolteon, came closer to me, pushing my little body closer to his. "There'll never be a moment with even a single Eeveelution short." I nestled closer to the safety of my brothers and sisters, my eyes just about shut in the warm company of my family. Echo Cereus, an Umbreon with a case of selective mutism, is shipped off to the Kalos Kingdom with his estranged brother, Tanuki Cereus, a Flareon with a chronic case of clumsiness. Objective? Study the artifact known as the Evolutionite under the tutelage of the kingdom's rulers. For the socially adverse Echo, the situation looked bleak. Things only go from bleak to dire as he is sent to a small town and has to interact with Pokémon he isn't too fond of. However, things are never what they seem. There is more to Kalos than what meets the eye. Beneath the pristine surface of the region and the kingdom lie various concerns bubbling to the surface. Discrimination, harmful stereotypes, and dangerous Pokémon become quite noticeable over time. In an unfamiliar place, the estranged brothers can only rely on each other and face the turmoil that's been eating at their relationship since their childhood. *I don't own the Pokémon franchise, nor am I the owner of the art used for this cover. As the eeveelutions are casually living their lives, they have no idea their world is falling apart... Arcane Explorers: An Eeveelution Story (Original Ver.)
It was around 150 years ago, when a war broke out among the 8 Eeveelution kingdoms. It was started by the Jolteon kingdom, as a war between themselves and the Vaporeon kingdom. The other kingdoms, excluding the Umbreon kingdom, joined sides with the Vaporeons, and nearly wiped out the Jolteon species completely. The Espeons mined out most, if not all of the thunder stones nearby, and hid them away. That was 150 years ago now. Jolteons are an incredibly rare sight these days. The other Eevees and Eeveelutions have been taught over the years that Jolteons are evil and soulless, and that evolving into one will change your mind for the worse, as well as being a sin against Arceus. Now, about 6 years ago, a couple exploring an old mine discovered one of the very few remaining thunder stones. They brought it home with them, but not without being spotted. Just a week later, they were forced to run away to protect their son from being discovered. They left both him, and the thunder stone behind. Now, 6 years later, there's a certain shiny Jolteon who's about to go on a journey. What may happen along the way? (This is the rewrite of Inside and Out. Some parts may be reused from the original.)
